Print, stitch and mixed media – using the skills I’ve learned over my many years I simply love to create. I’m inspired by my surroundings especially nature – plants and birds but especially the East Neuk of Fife and the Isle of Mull, here the colours and textures are wonderful. In April 2012 I was awarded 1st place in the UK final of The Society of Dyers and Colourists’ International Competition and in December 2012 represented the UK and was chosen as winner of the Grand Final of the Society of Dyers and Colourists’ International Design Competition at a prestigious awards evening held in Hong Kong.
I graduated this year from DJCAD with a first class honours degree in textile design and at New Designers in June I won the New Designer BCFA Scottish Leather Group Award in London.
Scotland’s harbours and shores, filled with colour pattern and shape are my inspiration and I design screen print and colour cloth in my new studio in Wasps Meadowmill Dundee. These fabrics are then crafted by hand into capes and scarves for both ladies and children.
In October 2013 I was chosen for the We Make Exhibition for Craft Scotland Conference which was held in Dundee a huge honour to have my work displayed amongst many of Dundee finest designers.
I have recently taken the position as Designer in Residence within the textile department at Duncan of Jordanstone where I’m developing an interior accessory collection for the home and assisting staff within the department.
